We believe that teaching with film has the power to help educate our next generation with a richer understanding of the diverse and complex world in which we live, on top of its already researched and proven power to increase engagement and memorability.
We aspire to develop our students to be globally competent and socially active by amplifying the storytelling power of film. A fılm-based interactive lesson simultaneously illustrates issues at hand in a broad context and from different perspectives, while following the school’s curriculum and requirements. In addition to achieving the four C’s (critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity), our students gain social and global cognizance and the skills needed for problem solving under uncertainty in a dynamic constantly changing environment.
Our pedagogical team and partners, “Journeys in Film” consists of the best experts in education, and in various fields of knowledge. Our experts have designed highly interactive lessons that meet diverse curriculum standards.
A full lesson is readily available for your class!
The platform also supplies robust teaching guides with a collection of questions, assignments and links to further readings, and enables teachers to easily create their own lessons or edit existing ones with our Smart Lesson creator, and share them with colleagues around the world.
Hi there! I’m a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my website. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin’ caught in the rain.)

How?
Our experts have designed highly interactive lessons that meet diverse curriculum standards.
The platform enables teachers to easily create their own lessons and share them with colleagues around the world.

Academe plus platform includes lessons based on full movies and lessons based on segments from several movies centered on a specific topic.
Our lessons are completely “ready to use” units.
They include activities, questions, and assignments geared for students before, during and after watching the movies or movie clips.
The teacher’s guides contain instructions for the teacher, the full lesson plan and suggested supplementary materials, as well as short answers for each question.
The lesson plan includes:
Opening activities to activate prior knowledge
Questions that appear on the top of the movie consist of open questions and multiple choice questions, to focus, reflect and develop active watching.
Summation activities and Suggested Assessment activities. Some of them are recommended as collaborative work and allow for a diverse alternative and personal assessment for each learner.
The assessment activities go beyond the movie, and connect the issues at hand to our students’ contemporary life, to their imagination and creativity
Each unit also suggests additional links to enrichment materials.
The platform affords a hybrid learning model as well as independent study where students’ responses are automatically available to the teacher.
You can grade your students’ work, comment on each answer and send your feedback to the student. You can also download the students report as a PDF or Excel file.
